NAVIGATING DECISIONS WITH THE TWO OF SWORDS

August 19, 2024 Alexandra Virginia Season 1 Episode 8

What if your indecision isn't about overthinking, but about needing just one crucial piece of information? Join me, Alexandra, on this episode of Intimate Tarot as we explore the mysterious and contemplative Two of Swords card. Imagine a woman with Moon in Libra in her birth chart, juggling intuition and logic, standing on the brink of a decision—this imagery will help you connect deeply with the card's essence. We'll discuss the traits of Moon in Libra individuals, their intuitive yet analytical nature, and how these qualities manifest in the Two of Swords. By envisioning the card's symbolic elements, such as water representing emotions and the moon symbolizing the subconscious, we draw a direct line to the High Priestess and her ultimate feminine intuition.

Listen to a compelling personal story about my sister's property search, which perfectly illustrates the Two of Swords energy. She was paralyzed by choice until she identified her non-negotiable: space for a bidet. This simple yet crucial detail enabled her to make a confident decision. We'll also delve into the Dark Mansion Tarot's unique portrayal of this card, where the woman’s contemplative pose and the positioning of the swords evoke an external imposition of truth. Tune in for an episode packed with insights that will transform your understanding and connection with the Two of Swords in your tarot practice.

Alexandra Clissa:

Welcome to another episode of Intimate Tarot. I'm your host, alexandra, and today we are going to talk about the Two of Swords. This card is a Moon in Libra card and because in most decks there is always a woman depicted, I tend to humanize the card and imagine this lady having Moon in Libra in her birth chart. This is a fun game and a good trick to remember card meanings, by the way, especially when it comes to the Minor Arcana, to attribute the quality of people you know to the cards. So what are the characteristics of a monolibra person? Well, they can be very intuitive and the first impulse is usually right, being a cardinal sign, but they have this tendency of weighing options because they are an air sign. Therefore, they love to be actively engaged with thought and information and critically decide which option is the best, and this task can be overwhelming. Also, in most tarot decks, the lady is depicted standing close to a body of water, water symbolizing emotions. The moon is high in the sky, the moon representing the subconscious mind, and this card is number two, drawing a straight connection to the high priestess, the archetypal, intuitiveness of the divine feminine. So this woman is getting a cosmic download. Her intuition is to The High Priestess, the archetypal intuitiveness of the divine feminine. So this woman is getting a cosmic download. Her intuition is to the roof right now. The lady is faced with facts, she has tangible proof in front of her eyes and she's highly intuitive. At this point, she has enough information and the ability to make a decision. Yet what does she do? She says no, she covers her eyes, crosses her arms, she sits and waits. But waits for what? When this card shows up in a reading, ask yourself what piece of information do I need in order to finally make this decision? What is my non-negotiable? Because when we are undecided between two or three almost equally valuable options, to have that one thing that is actually a deal-breaker makes all the difference and it frees us from doubts.

Alexandra Clissa:

Before I tell you my personal experience with this card, I want to give you this example, because it just happened to my sister. She was looking for a property to buy here in England and all the Victorian style houses look the same. Literally, there is no much difference in the basic structure of a small kitchen, a dining room and a living room, two bedrooms, a bathroom and a toilet. It is extremely common here in the UK to have dining room and living room separated by a wall, and bathroom and toilet being two separate rooms. But in Italy it is not. We normally have one big open space for kitchen and dining room, which also serves as a living room, and our bathrooms are big, as we also have a bidet, and my sister wanted it. Therefore, to have a big bathroom where she could have it installed was a non-negotiable. So when she found a house that had the same blueprint of all the rest but had no separation between bathroom and toilet, it was a done deal for her. She has been undecided for months on which property to buy, because they were all alike and on the same street, but this one, even though it's located farther from the closest tube station and requires her to spend money to break the wall to create the open space. This property had the one thing that was a non-negotiable for her the space to install a bidet. So she bought the property. She was in that two of sorts energy for so long, postponing the decision, until she found that one piece of information that enabled her to remove the blindfold and act.

Alexandra Clissa:

So far I've been visually referring to the two of swords by the original Rider-Waite-Smith tarot, but me, me, I am totally the two of swords in the dark mansion tarot. In this illustration we have a woman dressed in a clear-colored dress, posing with a question mark hand gesture on her chin, facing two swords placed like an X, on the table in front of her. The swords represent logic, truth, facts, and it's interesting the way they are displayed, not with the handle close to her, as if she was the one who put them down, but with the sharp hands towards her, like somebody else placed the swords of truth on the table and she's questioning them. The lady is looking at the facts, though her eyes are covered by a piece of fabric that is casually floating in front of her face, obscuring her sight momentarily. This scene really looks like me presented with the truth in my love readings, but casually ignoring the signs because I don't want to see. So when this card appears in my tarot readings, it is a reminder that once again I'm ignoring red flags, and the reason is that I would rather go out with the wrong guy than with no guy at all.

Alexandra Clissa:

I explained in previous episodes that I come from a long, emotionally abusive relationship and especially the last year has been really hard on me as I was still living in the same property with my ex-husband during the divorce process. Therefore, for the longest time, I thought a night out was better than 19. And no one could be worse than my husband anyway. So what could be the problem? Well, for starters, I actually fell into a seven-month toxic relationship with a devilishly handsome man. Listen to the devil episode to know all the details about that. And second, the humiliation of being ghosted by a man who I didn't even like in the first place is something that still haunts me. I eventually deleted my dating app accounts because the emotional distress they were causing me was not even worth it. I realized it was better for me to hide in the comfort of my bedroom than to have dinner with this low-vibrational man.

Alexandra Clissa:

Two of sorts for me speaks of my ability to look at the signs in the tarot cards in front of me when I give myself a love reading, but momentarily suspending my good judgment and entertaining a different interpretation. Just like the moon in Libra in this card takes the time to weigh options, because I don't want to acknowledge that my guy is flirting with other girls. Three of cups, having sex with another woman. Queen of wands, hiding wounds from his past. The moon or not coming to pick me up the world and the chariot together.

Alexandra Clissa:

I want to give you an example of a tarot reading I misinterpreted with Simon, the guy I talked about in the episode, The Devil. The cards were showing Three of Pentacles, seven of Swords, the Moon. As the man in the Seven of Swords is looking at the Moon card and running towards the Three of Pentacles one, I interpreted that as a sign that Simon was walking away from his past trauma and fears towards working with me to build a relationship walking away from his past trauma and fears towards working with me to build a relationship. And this may have been a valuable interpretation, but it's not what I thought the first time I saw the cards. This is the interpretation I gave the day after not sleeping all night, thinking of a positive way to spin the two cards that indicated deceit.

Alexandra Clissa:

My first reaction when I saw the cards was "he's lying, he doesn't want to be in this relationship, he's hiding secrets. And in fact that was the week when I discovered about his mental health issues and his past relationship traumas and his non-confrontational nature and cheating habit. Perhaps he was lying to himself and thought he could be in the relationship, or he was lying to me, knowing he would never get over his commitment issues. Nonetheless, there was deceit in the reading and very little effort to work on it. A three of pentacles in a love reading doesn't hold the same weight of eight of pentacles. That would have shown real effort and commitment to solve the issues.

Alexandra Clissa:

But I did not want to see and go deep with the reading. Just like Moon in Libra has, the cardinal energy of first impression is always right. I got that when I saw the cards. But then I decided to sleep on it and see if I could interpret them in a more positive way for myself, because I wanted to be in a relationship with him and I didn't like to see the Moon card.

Alexandra Clissa:

So please, when the Two of Swords shows up in a reading, ask yourself what am I refusing to see? What could be another explanation? Which one is more likely to be true? And if you can't find in your heart to answer that because the truth hurts or because you legitimately don't know, then ask another. Bouncing ideas back to another person is actually what helps Moon in Libra people to come to a decision, because the overload of information and the desire to come to a fair decision is overwhelming for them.
